The ITU-T specifications Q.921 and Q.931 DSS1 (Digital Subscriber Signaling 1) are the baseline international specifications used throughout the world. The European specification from ETSI represents a modified form of Q.931, known as EDSS1 (European Digital Subscriber Signaling). Due to the early acceptance within the industry EDSS1 is the common variant of Q.931
